The defect

The mixture of chemicals used in front passenger airbags on certain vehicles may not meet specification, which may result in the initiator not properly functioning and the front passenger airbag not activating in the event of a crash.

The hazard

If the airbag fails to deploy it could lead to increased injuries to the front passenger seat occupant.

The remedy

Affected consumers will be contacted by direct mail. Consumers should contact their nearest Jaguar Land Rover dealer to arrange an inspection of the vehicle and replacement of the front passenger airbag.
