The defect

During a limited production period for Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace vehicles, a certain material used in the production of the rear springs was not approved for use in the process. As a result, there is a danger that a coil spring may break and damage the rear tyres.

The hazard

If a coil spring breaks and damages the rear tyres, this could result in a loss of vehicle control and may lead to a vehicle collision.

The remedy

Volkswagen will be contacting affected consumers to organise a free-of-charge repair of affected vehicles.Owners of affected vehicles can also contact the Volkswagen Recall Campaign Hotline on 1800 504 076 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am-8pm AEST) or visit: https://www.volkswagen.com.au/app/locals/find-dealer to arrange a repair.
