The defect

Due to a software issue with the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) the vehicle may enter fail-safe mode. This may result in incorrect operation of lighting systems such as front and rear lamps and licence plate illumination. Additionally, the engine start/stop function and wipers may not operate as intended.

The hazard

If functions such as engine start/stop, wipers and lighting systems do not operate as intended it could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest authorised Daimler Truck dealership to book an appointment to have the rectification carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.
