The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, wiring harness earth connection bolts may not have been fastened with sufficient torque. This may increase the electrical resistance of the wiring harness and could result in a vehicle fire.

The hazard

A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz in writing, requesting you to schedule an appointment with your authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.
