The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the Advanced Connected Energy (ACE) chip within the starter battery may corrode. This may cause an electrical short circuit while the vehicle is in operation and/or parked, leading to a vehicle fire.

A vehicle fire could increase the risk injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest authorized Daimler Truck dealership immediately to schedule an appointment to have the recall carried out, free of charge.
