The defect

The threaded connections securing the oil pressure line may not have been tightened sufficiently. As a result, oil could leak into the engine bay and accumulate in the presence of an ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire.

The hazard

A vehicle fire could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by an authorised Daimler Commercial Vehicle Dealership in writing and should have rectification work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.Alternatively, a full list of authorised dealerships can be found at www.mercedes-benz-trucks.com or by calling 1800 033 557.
