The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel filter drainpipe may come in contact with the underfloor panel and chafe whilst driving. This could result in a diesel fuel leak and cause a noticeable fuel odour.

The hazard

Fuel leak onto the road may cause a loss of traction and increase the risk of a crash resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders.
