Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

The engine coolant bleeder hoses quick connectors may not sufficiently seal towards the spigot on the coolant expansion tank, potentially resulting in loss of engine coolant and/or air leakage into the engine cooling system.

The hazard

The defect may lead to boiling in the engine cooling system and the owner may notice reduced engine performance. In the worst case scenario, this may appear very rapidly and result in engine damages and/or engine break down. In these cars there is no warning of low coolant level, and the engine temperature warning may not alert the driver as the coolant boiling temperature is decreased under the threshold for warning, due to the air leakage into the cooling system.

The remedy

Volvo will be sending letters to all affected owners. Owners will be advised to contact their authorised Volvo dealership for inspection and replacement of the expansion tank and bleeder hoses.
