The defect

Under certain conditions, the directional indicator lamps may fail to operate when the steering column mounted indicator controls are used. There will be no visual or audible warnings provided to the driver to specifically notify them of this failure.

The hazard

If the directional indicator lamps fail to operate as designed prior to a change of direction of the vehicle on the road, other road users will not be alerted to an intended change of direction of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a collision or accident.

The remedy
