The defect

The vehicle is equipped with a stop-start system that automatically stops and restarts the engine when the vehicle is stationary (e.g. at a stop light). Due to improper programming of the engine control computer, the engine may stall during acceleration from the stationary position when the engine restarts within a specific time range after the engine stops.

The hazard

Loss of motive power while driving could cause a hazard to other road users. This could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.

The remedy
