Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

In specific Econic 956 models used as refuse vehicles, the steel cables of the seat belt anchor, installed between the raised centre seat and the co-driver's seat, may be deformed by more than 90 degrees (contrary to the original specification) as a result of the continual getting in and out of the vehicle.

The hazard

This may cause fractures of individual steel braids on the seat belt anchor. As the required tension force is no longer achieved as a result of individual, fractured steel braids on the seat belt anchor, the seat belt restraint function may no longer be sufficient.

The remedy

Owners are requested to contact an Authorised Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealership to arrange to have the vehicle repaired.
