The defect

Due to the possibility of corrosion on internal components, the restraint system control unit may fail. As a result the restraint system components such as the airbags could be deactivated. In this case, the SRS warning lamp would illuminate.

The hazard

In rare cases, various restraint system components could additionally be triggered without obvious cause. This could constitute a risk of accident and/or injury.

Letters will be sent to owners of affected vehicles
