The defect

Due to incorrectly maintained welding equipment on a particular production day, the steering intermediate shaft may have been insufficiently welded.

The hazard

If the defect occurs and the vehicle is continuously operated in this condition, the weld could fracture resulting in loss of steering control, increasing the risk of an accident.

The remedy

Owners will be contacted by mail to present their vehicle to their preferred Toyota Dealer for the replacement of the steering intermediate shaft assy at No Charge.
