The defect

The lower portion of the Driver Side Airbag Cover (horn pad) may become detached from the airbag module during deployment. In the worst case, there is a possibility that the detached piece may strike the driver causing personal injury.

Launch date for this recall will be on or about 2 January 2002. All owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by letter and by telephone on or about 2 January 2002. If you require further information contact your Toyota Dealer.
