The defect

Due to a software issue with the high-voltage battery Electronic Control Unit, the electric drive system may shut down. This could lead to a loss of motive power resulting in “EV System Malfunction” warning message appearing in the instrument cluster and multiple malfunction indicator lamps illuminating.Note: Power steering and power assisted braking will continue to operate as normal.

The hazard

A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Lexus and asked to arrange with their preferred Lexus dealer to have the software updated, free of charge.
