The defect

The side crash sensor may not be secured correctly to the body of the vehicle. These sensors are used to determine when to deploy the airbags in the event of an accident.

The hazard

If the sensors are not secured correctly in the event of an accident, there may be a delay in triggering the airbag, increasing the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz and are asked to make arrangements with their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible.
