The defect
The centre support for the external roof railing may become loose or detach while driving.

The hazard
If the roof railing becomes loose or detached while loaded this could result in the load being lost. Additionally, in the event of an accident the roof railing may detach. This would increase the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.
The remedy
Consumers should make an appointment for your vehicle with an authorised Mercedes-Benz workshop urgently. As part of the remedy the condition of the roof railing will be checked and they will be replaced if necessary.
