The defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the vehicle-sensitive locking mechanism in the driver seat belt assembly may not lock as designed when the retractor body or vehicle is decelerated or tilted.

The hazard

In the event of an accident or hard braking, the driver's seat belt may not operate correctly, increasing the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.

The remedy
