The defect

Driver's airbag inflator: If an affected vehicle is involved in an accident and the airbag goes off, the airbag inflator may rupture.

The hazard

In the event of an airbag inflator rupture, metal fragments could possibly shoot out, straight through the airbag cushion material towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or fatality.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will receive a notification from Volvo Group Australia asking them to contact a Volvo truck dealership to arrange replacement of the airbag inflator free of charge. If they have not already done so, owners must immediately contact a Volvo truck dealership to arrange the repairs urgently.Owners of Volvo trucks can check if their vehicle is affected by the Takata airbag recall by calling 1300 698 658 or emailing vga.warranty@volvo.com. If their vehicle is affected by the Takata airbag recall, owners should immediately arrange an urgent booking for an authorised Volvo dealer to replace the airbag inflator free of charge.
