The defect

Due to inappropriate structure of the engine timing chain tensioner; abnormal noise may be generated by the lack of the tension control on the timing chain.

The hazard

With continued use under this condition, the timing chain may break and, in the worst case scenario, the engine could stop and not restart creating a potential accident hazard to the occupants and other road users.

The remedy
