The defect

Due to improper programming in the airbag control module initialisation sequence, there is a possibility that, under certain conditions shortly after startup, the Curtain Shield Airbags could activate when not necessary.

The hazard

Unexpected activation of the Curtain Shield Airbags could increase the risk of injury to the occupants and pose a potential accident hazard.

The remedy

Owners are advised not to drive the vehicle until the SRS airbag warning light turns off (approx 4 seconds after ignition on) to ensure airbag initialisation is complete.Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by mail.
