The defect
The Front Under-Run Protection Device (FUPD) may collapse if involved in a frontal collision.The vehicle does not comply with the Australian Design Rule 'Vehicle Standard (ADR 84/00 - Front Underrun Impact Protection) 2009'.
The hazard
If the device collapses when impacted with a vehicle, there is a greater chance of the vehicle being pulled under the truck, which can pose a greater accident hazard for road users and cause serious injury or fatality to vehicle occupants.
The remedy
