The defect

Protrusion of the curtain airbag mounting bolt may interfere with airbag fabric in the event of deployment. Some vehicles may experience rear side, curtain airbag cushion damage when the airbag is deployed.

The hazard

The mounting bolt may damage the airbag fabric in the event of deployment. The airbag may not provide optimum protection, and may cause serious injury to the rear occupant.

The remedy

Affected consumers should contact an authorised Hyundai dealer, to have the exposed mounting bolt covered up, and to prevent contact between the bolt and fabric bag.
