The defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the airbag wiring harness under the rear passenger seat may not have been adequately secured. As a result, it may become damaged over time due to seat adjustment leading to inadvertent deployment or an inability to deploy the rear seat side airbags.

The hazard

In the event of an accident, an airbag not deploying as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles can contact their nearest authorised Hyundai dealer to schedule an appointment to have the airbag wire harness inspected and rectified, free of charge.
