The defect

The rear axle housing may have been assembled with an inclined flange and stress may be applied to the axle shafts and/or the hub bearings, resulting in failure.

The hazard

If stress is applied to the axle shafts and/or the hub bearings suffer a failure, the vehicle may not operate and could potentially cause an accident and serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy
