The defect

During production of the dashboard panel the process of milling the “weak points or deployment points” in the passenger side of the panel has not been carried out.These points are used as a break point of the dashboard panel if the passenger airbag is triggered.

The hazard

This may cause the passenger side airbag to not deploy correctly in an accident, posing a higher risk of injury to the front passenger.

The remedy

Owners will be contacted by direct mail. Owners should contact an authorised BMW service centre, go to http://www.bmw.com.au or call the BMW Group Customer Interaction Centre on 1800 813 299 to arrange an inspection and repair of the vehicle.
