The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, insufficient sealing of the reverser system control unit may allow moisture to enter the unit. If this occurs, it could cause a short circuit leading to a vehicle fire.

The hazard

A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to riders, their passengers, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles should immediately contact their preferred authorised BMW Motorrad dealer to have work completed, free of charge.
