The defect

Water ingress past the blue O-ring seal into the cavity underneath the fuel pump electronics. This results in corrosion of the contactsof the blue plug of the fuel pump electronics. This can cause sporadic failure of the fuel pump unit.

The hazard

Injury. Hazardous situations could result if the engine were to cut out unexpectedly and possibly start firing again just as suddenly.

The remedy

Make contact with their preferred authorised BMW Motorcycle dealer to have alterations carried out free of charge. If they have any questions contact the National Motorcycle Service Department on 03 9264 4255 or 03 9264 4252
