The defect
In certain circumstances, the acceleration sensor signal may stagnate. If Roll Stability Support (RSS) intervention is required and at the same time the sensor malfunction occurs, the RSS function may not intervene.Additionally, in the event of an electrical fault in the brake valve, the ABS, EBS, and RSS functions are deactivated, and the trailer warning lamp is illuminated. However, after an ignition reset, the warning lamp may fail to illuminate in approximately 1 % of cases, although the ABS, EBS, and RSS functions remain deactivated.
The hazard
Trailers may be fitted with a component that is not compliant with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 38/05 - Trailer Brake Systems.
The remedy
The defect will be rectified by a software update. Affected companies suppliers have been informed.
