The defect

Due to a software issue, the vehicle may accelerate without the pedal being depressed. This may result in unintended vehicle movement.Note: The vehicle can be stopped immediately by engaging the hand or park brake and when at low speed by changing the gear to neutral.

An unintended movement of the vehicle may increase the risk of an accident causing serious injuries or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their preferred authorised Volvo dealership to schedule an appointment to have the software updated, free of charge.
