The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the driver's seat belt may have been incorrectly anchored. As a result, the seat belt may not operate as intended.

The hazard

In the event of an accident, if the seat belt does not operate as intended, the occupant may not receive the full protection of the seatbelt system. This could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Volkswagen Group Australia to schedule an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge.
