The defect

Due to a software issue, the engine may generate more soot than intended which could cause the vehicle to trigger more frequent regenerations of Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). This could result in the vehicle producing emissions outside the requirements of Emissions Standards Regulations. This may also lead to potential failure of the DPF.

The hazard

There is no safety hazard associated with this recall and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle.Vehicles that experience this issue may not comply with Australian Design Rule 79/04 – Emissions Control for Light Vehicles.

The remedy

Owners will be contacted in writing requesting they contact an Authorised Ford Dealer to have their vehicle rectified, free of charge.For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealer or Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 13 FORD (13 3673).
