The defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the riveting in the airbag deflector bracket may have a sharp edge and could come in contact with the airbag. This could result in a tear in the airbag and reduce its effectiveness.

The hazard

In the event of an accident that triggers the airbag, if the airbag is damaged or torn, there is an increased risk of injury and/or death to vehicle occupants.

The remedy

Owners should contact their nearest official retailer as soon as possible to have the vehicle inspected and, if necessary, the rework carried out.
