The defect

Due to a software issue the vehicle, when operated in Track Mode, does not display the Unit of speed (kph or mph) correctly. As a result the driver may not adequately be able to determine the speed of the vehicle.

The hazard

If the driver is unable to correctly determine the speed of the vehicle, it may increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy

Tesla owners will receive a notification on their cars that an Over-The-Air update which will provide a measurement of speed whilst in Track mode can be downloaded and installed.
