The defect

In select vehicles, the supplied jack‘s label does not comply with the mandatory standard ‘Trade Practices Act 1974 Consumer Protection Notice No. 1 of 2010 Consumer Product Safety Standard for Vehicle Jacks’. The jack label is missing some of the required information.

The hazard

If the jack is mislabelled, and does not have correct safety information, the occupant may misuse it on a different vehicle or in a way it was not designed for. Misuse may cause jack instability or failure. If a consumer is under the vehicle, this may lead to a vehicle collapsing causing severe injury or death.

The remedy

Affected consumers should contact their local authorised Alfa Romeo dealer for a free inspection.
