Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

These vehicles are not known to comply with Australian Design Rule 69/00 Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection which is an import safety standard. The compliance plate fitted to the vehicle is therefore not valid. In these circumstances the compliance plate should be removed from the vehicle. This would indicate that the vehicle does not meet the roadworthy requirements of the States and Territories and thus the registration would be cancelled and could not be renewed. In this particular case the Administrator of Vehicle Standards has decided to allow the compliance plate to remain on the vehicles provided that an additional placard indicating the non-compliance is placed adjacent to the compliance plate in the engine bay.
