The defect
Due to a manufacturing issue, the fuel sensor housing may crack and cause a fuel leak. If a fuel leak occurs, this may result in a loss of motive power while driving. Additionally, if the fuel comes into contact with an ignition source this may result in a vehicle fire.

A loss of motive power, or a vehicle fire, while driving could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.
The remedy
Owners of affected vehicles can contact their authorised Alfa Romeo Dealer to have the work carried, free of charge.
