The defect
The ball joints may wear prematurely.
The hazard
Premature wear may result in the ball stud separating from the housing, causing the front suspension to collapse and affecting the vehicle's steering and braking. If the vehicle suspension fails while the vehicle is in motion this may increase the risk of an accident and injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
The remedy
Consumer's should arrange to check their ball joints for affected batch numbers and contact their preferred mechanic to have their ball joints replaced.
