The defect

The seat belt pre-tensioner, on the right hand side in the third row passenger seat may have been produced with an incorrect production parameter. The seat belt will operate as intended, however, a very small part of the pre-tensioner may detach during a crash.

The hazard

If the part detaches during a crash it may bounce into the passenger compartment, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.

The remedy

Owners should contact their nearest Volvo dealer and arrange for the right hand third row seat belt to be replaced.
