Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

Due to a malfunction during manufacturing in the heat treatment tempering process, excessive residual stress may cause a crack and separation of the right front axle driveshaft.

The hazard

The right front axle driveshaft may develop a crack in the area of the stub at the wheel end of the shaft. When moving from a stopped position, the crack can lead to a separation of the shaft, causing a loud noise. The vehicle would then lose motive power and in some cases, this may lead to an accident.

The remedy

Kia Motors Australia will contact all affected owners by mail, requesting that they immediately contact their preferred Kia dealer to have the front right hand axle driveshaft replaced free of charge.
