The defect
Maserati is recalling Quattroporte (M156) vehicles to replace the alternator-starter wiring harness. The protective sealing cover on the electrical connection of the engine power cable to the starter motor is potentially installed the wrong way.

The hazard
Without the protective sealing cover in its proper position and without proper securing of the engine power cable, the connection may become progressively loose and potentially contact the engine block assembly. This could result in an electrical fire or cause the engine to suddenly stall, creating a traffic hazard.
The remedy
Owners will receive a letter instructing them to contact their preferred Maserati Motor Dealer.
