The defect
The unique vibration characteristics of this particular model can cause resonance that may affect the operation of the Back Angle Sensor. If the sensor is affected, it can cause the engine to shut off during normal riding conditions and the engine cannot be re-started until the ignition switch has been turned off and back on.
The hazard
Failure of the Back Angle Sensor, due to vibration, can cause the engine to shut down while riding. If this happens whilst in operation there is potential for the rider to lose control of the motorcycle resulting in an accident.
The remedy
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail.Owners are advised to present their machine at their nearest Honda dealer for modification. The Dealer will carry out the fitting of a new Back Angle Sensor at no charge to the owner.
