Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

During vehicle assembly, Toyota brake fluid contains polymers that act as a lubricant for certain brake system components. If the replacement brake fluid used has insufficient polymers, the brake master cylinder rear rubber seal may become dry and curl during brake application.

The hazard

If the defect occurs, a small amount of brake fluid could leak from the rear of the brake master cylinder resulting in a low brake fluid level and illumination of the brake warning light. If the vehicle is operated in this condition, the brake pedal feel could change, and eventually braking performance could begin to gradually degrade.

The remedy

All owners of affected vehicles will receive a Recall Notification Letter.Owners are advised to contact their authorised Toyota Dealership for inspection and replacement of the rear rubber cup of the brake master cylinder.
