The defect

The handbrake cable is too long and may exceed the mechanisms ability to lock in position properly which may result in the vehicle rolling away unless the transmission is in park.

The remedy

These vehicles must have the handbrake cable replaced and a lockout clip installed. Even if the handbrake cable has previously been replaced the vehicle must now be returned to a dealer to have the new lockout clip fitted.
