The defect

The 1600Kg and 1800Kg Heavy Duty Goosenecks supplied separately and as part of any of the Ford Genuine Heavy Duty Towbar Kits may be susceptible to embrittlement which may result in the gooseneck fracturing in service resulting in the trailer separating.

The remedy

All towbars that were supplied and/or fitted during March 2000 until July 2001 inclusive must be inspected. In addition any Heavy Duty Goosenecks that were supplied separately during this period must also be inspected. Please contact your Ford Dealer.
