The defect

During normal use, the bolts securing the side stand safety switch to the side stand bracket may become loose and fall out.

The hazard

The side stand safety switch may fail to prevent the engine from running with the side stand down, potentially causing an accident if a rider forgets to raise the stand before moving off.

The remedy

Yamaha has written to all affected owners. Consumers should contact their local Yamaha dealer to set up an appointment and have the motorcycle remedied free of charge.
