The defect

The welded connection of the rear seat bench may not have been correctly connected.

The hazard

In the event of an accident, the head restraint of the rear seat backrest installed in the vehicle may not be fully effective, potentially increasing the risk of an injury to the occupant.

The remedy

Volkswagen Group Australia Pty Ltd is contacting all known owners of affected vehicles.
