The defect

On MY18 Volkswagen Polo models of a limited production period, the belt buckle on the rear left seat can inadvertently become undone.

The hazard

If the fault occurs, the left rear belt buckle can inadvertently release and, as a result, the passenger is not secured by the restraint system in the event of an accident or when braking hard posing a high risk of injury.

The remedy

Volkswagen Group Australia Pty Ltd is contacting all known owners of affected vehicles.
