The defect

Variations in the mixture ratio of the airbag propellant may prevent the airbag and/or the belt tensioner from deploying in the event of an accident.

The hazard

If the airbag or the belt tensioners are not deployed correctly in an accident, the risk of injury increases.

The remedy

A letter is being sent to affected owners of the vehicles. For further information, customers can contact their local Volkswagen Authorised Service Centre or contact Volkswagen Customer Care on 1800 607 822.
