The defect

Certain Passat and Arteon models with a Panorama sunroof installed within a limited production period have a bonded joint between the sunroof trim panel and the sunroof frame, which may have had the incorrect primer used as part of the installation/repair process.

The hazard

The sunroof trim panel may detach from the sunroof frame. If the trim detaches whilst driving, it may endanger other road users or lead to an accident.

The remedy

Volkswagen will be contacting affected consumers. Owners of affected vehicles can also contact the Volkswagen Recall Campaign Hotline on 1800 504 076 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am-8pm AEST) or visit https://www.volkswagen.com.au/app/locals/find-dealer to arrange for a repair.
